It is time for progressive factions to get proactive.

I liked the audio! I was able to start the piece while I made dinner and then scroll down and finish it when I sat down to eat. I also liked hearing your inflections and being able to read along. And as always, I enjoy your insights and the way you go through to deconstruct this movement. Thank you for the extra effort.

Unfortunately, Nikki Haley's loss demonstrated to them that standing up to Trump is not a re-election strategy.

The projection from Republicans is strong. I do wonder what the judges think. In normal times, legal revenge wasn't possible without evidence and the actions of judges. Maybe we should adjust our perception and realize that because no judge would allow a lawmaker to be prosecuted for rightly investigating trump, maybe the "revenge" the fascist Republicans are talking about is physical violence. I mean extrajudicial violence. "Oh, they are just using violent rhetoric to motivate their base," the media will say. I disagree. The GOP has gone so far down this violent path since 2015, that they are unrecognizable as the party of family values and children. This is not the party that recruited Whitney Houston to sing the national anthem in 1991. This is the party of bloodshed, destabilization and possibly murder. Political assassinations. Pinochet knew he could terrorize Chile by just murdering the right influencers. Same with the GOP? So they have a list? You bet they do.

A minor point - the fact that John Yoo is a professor of law at a prestigious college rather than rotting in a hermetically sealed cage 15 miles below the surface of the earth proves that there is no justice in this world, trump's conviction not withstanding. A truly evil human being who shouldn't be anywhere near educating other people.

I think we all need to start calling it The Fascist Trump Party. No more "GOP", no more "Republicans." Fascist Trump Party.

One more point. The most frightening aspect of Trumpism is the extreme to which followers will go to support DJT and his agenda, up to and including violence. They can’t participate in the normal political process because what they’re willing to do is so far outside of the normal political process. As Steve Schmidt says, on November 5 we will face a political crisis in this country no matter who wins. That is truly frightening

A very chilling and frightening analysis of our political system. If we have to defeat this political faction we have to educate ourselves in order to do it. We have to know the enemy before we can fight it. Thank you for this lesson.

The saying “it’s always darkest before the dawn” comes to mind after reading this. I’m afraid we haven’t reached our darkest time yet. I just hope dawn begins to break in November. Otherwise project 2025 will destroy America as we know it and leave us a dystopia called MAGA land.

The pot will continue to boil over until the flame underneath it has been shut off. Fox News, Charlie Kirk, Breitbart, One American News Network, and Newsmax among others must be held to the standards of publishing and not simply that of the first amendment. any dissemination of opinion about current events other than person to person should be licensed.

Totally agree with this analysis.

It’s time to start really thinking about what to do WHEN, not if, the GQP tries to steal the upcoming election. Leaving the country is not an option for most of us.

Right-wingers know with certainty that trump and most GQP candidates cannot win a fair election because their “ideas” and “policies” are simply not popular with the majority of the electorate, so they MUST do something to stay in power and out of jail. These are not people behaving as if they have any confidence in actually winning the 2024 election, and clearly they’re willing to commit violence if they don’t.

I’m so tired of the horse race and bothsides reporting by corporate media. They have 100% failed voters.

Do they really believe that their publications and careers are going to improve with tRump back in office? Are they truly that stupid and greedy?

Project 2025 was written because Trump can’t govern. He will open the book and follow the directions then have Diet Coke and hamburger and take a nap. Do the same everyday until it is implemented. He got Roe v Wade done for the Leo’s , Federalist Society, Heritage Foundation , religious organizations etc and the Oligharchs get richer and the poo get poorer and the middle class erodes….

Thanks for publishing this chilling post. It truly paints a revealing picture of the potential for an upcoming surge in right-wing extremism poised to affect America (by Americans) in the upcoming months.

To me, some takeaways from this must-read article are best illustrated in the following clips:

1) WHOSE COUNTRY??

"Rightwingers have decided that they *are* the country. The choice, therefore, isn’t partisanship or loyalty to the country. To them, the partisan divide maps perfectly onto the struggle between patriots and “Un-American” radicals for the survival of the nation. In that sense, choosing Trump *is* choosing the country."

2) WHO'S THE *REAL* VICTIM?

"At the very least, it would necessitate a whole lot of critical introspection: If you leave now, was it all for nothing? All the times you had to debase and embarrass yourself in public? And the people who you have painted as the radically “Un-American” enemy, those whose witch hunt you have decried for years: Are you ultimately going to let them win?"

3) WHO'S *REALLY* IN CHARGE?

"If “real America” is under siege, and its defenders have their backs against the wall in an all-out, Us vs Them struggle for the survival of the nation that defines and consumes all politics, then Trump, so the argument goes, is precisely the right leader."
