Good to have you back. Given your insightful observations on what was going on in the US I was quite certain that your future at Georgetown U was shaky at best.

"At some point, I will probably write a separate post with more detail about what’s been going on these past few months." Please do.

Ugh! I wondered why we had not 'heard' from you! Just this week, I was going to check my spam folder to see if your communications had somehow ended up there, so I was glad to see your email this morning. I have to confess to feeling a bit sad to see you felt compelled to leave the US and head back across the Atlantic. Though we live in a world where communication and the exchange of ideas are easier to engage in because of technology, your voice and presence at one of the elite academic centers right in D.C. made me feel like my point of view was well represented and articulated by you.So, I am sorry and it feels like an important pillar of the pro-Democracy pillar is gone, even if you are still very much in the conversation. So, my selfish thoughts aside, congratulations on making an important change in your career and an important change for your family. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your plans, suspect you will have more independence to more easily give us your historical perspectives, and continue to advocate for those of us feeling some level of dismay about where we are as a country.

P.S. Thanks for the historical reminder that we have, as a country, long struggled with the balance of democracy and egalitarian instincts.
